UK local newspaper Hackney Gazette finds itself in the spotlight with a quirky advertisement. Via an advertising insert, the group at the head of the media announces that in September it will launch a company, Hackney Diamonds, specializing in window repair. As noted by The Guardian, he repeatedly refers to Rolling Stones songs.

“Our friendly team promises you ‘satisfaction’. When you say ‘give-me shelter’, we’ll fix your ‘shattered’ windows,” the ad reads. References to famous Stones songs (“(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”, “Gimme Shelter” or “Shattered”.

Above all, other elements put the chip in the ear of some fans: the Rolling Stones logo appears above the Hackney Diamonds brand, and a link under the advertisement points to Polydor, the Stones’ label. Other oddities: Hackney Diamonds’ founding date, 1962, is the same as Mick Jagger’s band, and the typeface used is the same as the Some Girls album, released in 1978.

So, is this a simple tribute or a real first advertisement for an upcoming Stones album? For now, the rock band has not communicated. If this is a disguised announcement for an album, it would be the band’s first record release in seven years (Blue and Lonesome).
