Schwerin (dpa/mv) – Social organizations in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are calling for a state aid program for social facilities such as daycare centers and women’s shelters. The joint welfare association announced on Wednesday in Schwerin that these would not be achieved by the aid fund for the social economy planned by the federal government.

The aid fund envisaged by the expert commission at the federal level is limited to facilities that are refinanced by social security agencies. “The authors of the final report published on Monday recommend setting up comparable funds at state level for the services for which the states or municipalities are responsible,” explained Friedrich Wilhelm Bluschke, chairman of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomeranian parity.

According to him, facilities for people with disabilities, youth welfare, day-care centers for children, help for the homeless, women’s shelters and family recreation centers are not currently secured. Advisory services such as debtor or migration advice and the panels are also in danger.
