Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The tree for this year’s Magdeburg Christmas market comes from the Lemsdorf district. The 46-year-old and around 16-meter-high fir tree is to be felled on November 12 and brought to the Alter Markt, the Magdeburger Weihnachtsmarkt GmbH announced on Monday. The roots of the conifer, which is in a row house settlement, have therefore already reached the foundations of a house. Now, after the necessary felling, as the central eye-catcher at the Christmas market, he is getting a “glamorous farewell,” it said. The Christmas market around the town hall opens from November 21st to December 29th.
