Markranstädt (dpa / sn) – Several people were injured in a traffic accident on the A9 near Markranstädt (Leipzig district). As the police announced on Wednesday, a truck initially stopped at the end of a traffic jam in the right lane on Tuesday afternoon. The truck driving behind him was reportedly surprised and tried to avoid a collision to the left. The 50-year-old’s truck collided with the front truck and two cars in the two left lanes. The truck then hit the center plank, where it came to a stop. The 50-year-old driver was trapped in the cab as a result of the accident and had to be freed by rescue workers. He and another seriously injured man were taken to the hospital. Four people also suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Because of the accident, the A9 was completely blocked for several hours. The resulting property damage amounts to around 130,000 euros.
