Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) – A man wanted by an arrest warrant shot out of an apartment in Neubrandenburg – and thus sent himself to prison. As a police spokeswoman said on Thursday, the Neubrandenburg district court had the 26-year-old taken into custody. The Neubrandenburger, who is known to the police, was wanted by the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, among other things, for driving without a license and other crimes.

Residents had called the police on Wednesday because they heard shots in the residential area in the Oststadt district. The police found no one at the apartment. The officers searched and caught the 26-year-old tenant nearby.

He had probably shot three times out of the window with a blank gun, but nobody was injured. Weapons and ammunition were secured. The suspect now also awaits a procedure for violating the Weapons Act.
