Chemnitz (dpa/sn) – The international children’s film festival “Schlingel” in Chemnitz will end with a big award ceremony on Saturday (5.30 p.m.). There are a total of 58 feature films and 72 short films in the various competitions. Several children’s and expert juries decide which films are awarded. Last year, the main prize (European Children’s Film Prize), endowed with 12,500 euros, went to the film “SpaceBoy” from Belgium.

The festival for children and young audiences attracts thousands of visitors every year, according to the organizers there were around 17,000 in 2021. This year’s program was selected by a commission from more than 1600 films. This included four world premieres, including “The Mucklas and how they came to Pettersson and Findus”.
