Greifswald (dpa/mv) – This winter semester, the University of Greifswald is once again inviting you to the “Family University”. The events are expected to take place entirely in person, the university announced on Thursday. The start will be the lecture “Alexander von Humboldt Travel and Mate Teas” on October 20th in the Cycadeenhaus of the Botanical Garden. Interested parties should follow Humboldt on his travels and learn something about the introduction of mate tea in Europe by a companion of the scholar. Mate and other plants would also be shown on site.
Further lectures in the winter semester are to focus on animal-human transmission of diseases; Knights, castles and dragons or the cultural background of the Russian attack on Ukraine. The Family University was founded in 2008 and aims to bring science and research topics closer to interested people of all ages in a way that is easy to understand.
