Schwerin/Rövershagen (dpa/mv) – The retail and leisure company Karls Erlebnis-Dorf, headquartered in Rövershagen near Rostock, will support the volunteer card in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. “I am very pleased that we were able to gain an extremely attractive partner in Karl’s adventure village. That makes the nationwide volunteer card even more interesting for the holders,” said Social Affairs Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) on Thursday in Schwerin. According to them, the agreement is to be signed on Monday with owner Robert Dahl in Rövershagen. The company, which is active in several federal states and has three locations in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania alone, will be the 250th partner.
The honorary card, which has been awarded for two years, is a joint project of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the volunteer foundation MV and the eight hands-on centers funded by the state. In order to receive the card, certain requirements must be met. This includes proof of at least five hours of voluntary work per week in the past three years. For young people, proof is sufficient for one year.
According to the Ministry of Social Affairs, 5,400 people who volunteer in a special way are now benefiting from the privileges granted with the card. These include cheaper admission to state-owned museums and discounts at retailers, petrol stations, fast food outlets, bakeries, car rental companies, health insurance companies, restaurants, hotels and leisure facilities. The volunteer card is valid for three years.
