Schwerin (dpa/mv) – From now on, the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin invites you to visit a particularly inexpensive performance once a month. As the theater announced on Thursday, the first so-called theater day will take place on October 25th after a corona-related interruption of more than two years. Tickets for the four-hour Wagner opera “Tannhäuser oder Der Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg” in the Great House then cost 15 euros, regardless of the seat category. This means that those who make quick decisions can also secure a box seat for this low price, which otherwise costs more than three times as much.

According to the theatre, there will be a theater day once a month for selected performances, alternately in the big house and in the new M*Halle venue, for which ticket prices will be reduced to 10 euros. The play “Kabale und Liebe” will be shown there on Theater Day on December 14th. “Gundermann – Men, Women and Machines” and on January 12, 2023 the ballet “Nacht ohne Morgen” are on the program for the Big House.

According to a spokeswoman, the theater also wants to use the special offers to attract visitors who are not regular theatergoers. The restart of the theater days is also a signal for a return to more normality after the sometimes considerable restrictions on theater operations as a result of the corona pandemic. Visitor numbers dropped drastically. 63,000 visitors came in the 2021/22 season. That was again more than in the previous one, when the low was reached at 27,000, but still two thirds less than in the year before the outbreak of the pandemic.
