Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – When Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) was recently in Los Angeles, the rapper Max Herre (“Hallo Welt!”) from Stuttgart was also flown in. The opposition accuses the state government of careless handling of tax money. On Wednesday, the state parliament also dealt with the appearance. In the government survey, the SPD MP Sascha Binder criticized that the government had brought the entire delegation trip into “disrepute” with the costly action. From an ecological point of view, flying in the rapper for one evening was inappropriate. Science Minister Petra Olschowski (Greens) justified the action.
The reason for this was the promotion of the German-American youth exchange, she explained. Although Herre also performed three songs in front of the delegation from Stuttgart at the Goethe Institute in Los Angeles, he also took part in a hip-hop workshop. Herre himself took part in a hip-hop youth exchange at the German-American Center many years ago and wants to help rebuild something like that. The Ministry of State has funded the entire project of the center with 27,000 euros. Travel expenses and accommodation were incurred for Herre. However, he did not receive any fee.
