Boizenburg (dpa/mv) – The police in Boizenburg (Ludwigslust-Parchim) are investigating an escape driver against a wheelchair user. The previously unknown man is said to have caused an accident with two cyclists in the city with his electric vehicle on Monday, a police spokesman said on Wednesday. A 56-year-old cyclist was injured in such a way that she was taken to a clinic. The driver of the red motorized wheelchair then simply drove away.
According to previous investigations, the cyclists on the street were probably driving behind the wheelchair. Suddenly, the driver is said to have braked and turned off without first indicating a change of direction. Both cyclists wanted to dodge and fell. The woman came to the clinic, the other cyclist was unharmed. Wheelchairs powered by electric motors are allowed to drive at a maximum speed of 15 kilometers per hour and are considered motor vehicles.
