Mannheim (dpa / lsw) – Two elderly women were hit by a driver in Mannheim and seriously injured. The women, aged 82 and 86, were standing on the roadway next to their car on Wednesday evening when the 38-year-old driver drove past and hit them, police said early Thursday morning. The 38-year-old initially fled, but was later arrested by the police in the Neckarstadt-Ost district. She was reportedly intoxicated when she was arrested. A breathalyser test revealed a blood alcohol level of 2.4. The elderly were taken to hospitals.
