Mannheim (dpa / lsw) – Due to a burst water pipe, there was a long traffic jam in Mannheim. Road users will also have to reckon with disabilities in the coming days: the federal highway 44 is emergency closed between Schanzenstrasse and Dalbergstrasse in the direction of Neckarstadt, the city announced on Wednesday. Because of the burst pipe, the road has been undermined and needs to be resurfaced, said a spokeswoman for MVV Energie. The city and MVV assume that the construction work will be completed by the end of the week. They recommend driving around the area on a large scale. Commuters between Mannheim and Ludwigshafen should use the two Rhine bridges on the A6 and A61 motorways. The defective water pipe should be repaired in the course of Wednesday.
