The curtain rises on the twenty-eighth edition of Reggae Rototom Sunsplash. The town of Benicàssim in Castellón hosts a music festival from August 16 to 22, 2023 with 142 concerts and a cultural agenda with Jamaican music as its central axis. The organization expects the arrival of 200,000 attendees from 70 countries throughout the seven days that the event will last.

The Rototom, also known as The European Reggae Festival, is a festival that goes beyond musical performances. In fact, it is recognized by UNESCO as a promotional event for the Culture of Peace and Nonviolence. Debates, activities for children, youth and families, sustainability, social commitment, coexistence and interculturality, gastronomy and art complete the program of this popular event, which in 2023 bears the motto United for peace.

Reggae lovers have at Rototom Sunsplash 2023 everything they need to live a mystical experience. On the one hand, legends of the genre such as Burning Spear or the bands UB40 and The Pioneers disembark. And at the other extreme, the younger generation represented by the Kabaka Pyramid, Protoje

Barrington Levi; Capleton; Don Carlos; Anthony B.; Junior Marvin, guitarist for Bob Marley’s Wailers; Steel Pulse; the French L’Entourloop and Biga Ranx; Argentine rapper Trueno; the Ivorian Tiken Jah Fakoly or the Nigerian singer Yemi Alade are other of the claims of the main stage (Main Stage).

Another group of artists that breaks into the reggae universe of Benicàssim deserves a special mention. Figures from the flamenco world such as Josemi and Juan Carmona or Kiki Morente star in an unprecedented show at the festival, The flamenco world salutes Bob Marley, which will premiere on the Main Stage on August 22.

The Rototom venue opens at 2:00 p.m., although the ticket office opens an hour before. The main stage concerts start from 20:00, while the last performance usually takes place between 3:00 and 3:30. The facilities close at 6:00 in the morning.

Tickets and passes for Rototom Sunsplah 2023 are available on the event’s official website. The price for a day ticket is 40 euros, while there are also subscriptions with different rates to access the festival for more days: 80 euros (two days), 120 euros (three days), 140 euros (four days), 160 euros (five days), 175 euros (six days) and 200 euros (seven days).

The Rototom Sunsplah venue is located just over a kilometer from Benicàssim, on the N-340 road (km 986.300). If you go by car on the AP-7 motorway, you should take exit 45 (in the Barcelona direction) or 46 (in the Valencia direction) [see on Google Maps]. Those who go by bus or train have to get off at the Benicàssim or Castellón stations. Likewise, from the airports of Valencia and Barcelona there are buses for direct transfer to the festival.
