Nuremberg (dpa / lby) – According to sports director Dieter Hecking, the crisis management after the separation from coach Robert Klauß has no influence on his own negotiations about a contract extension at 1. FC Nuremberg. “We are in final talks,” said Hecking (58). He expressly denied that Klauß’s leave of absence and the search for a successor would affect his talks with the supervisory board of the Franconian second division soccer team.
Hecking used to be the coach of 1. FC Nürnberg himself, and has been the Franconian sporting director since the summer of 2020. His contract expires at the end of June 2023 and is likely to be extended soon.
After Klauß’s release, Hecking wants to present a successor as soon as possible. “We’re working flat out,” he assured. According to “Bild” information, Markus Weinzierl (47) should become the new coach for Nuremberg. The man from Straubing announced his farewell to Bundesliga club FC Augsburg live in front of the TV camera in the summer and has been without a job ever since.
