Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – Saxony-Anhalt’s State Audit Office President Kay Barthel wants to present an annual report on the financial situation of the cities and municipalities on Tuesday. In addition, further results of selected tests in the municipal sector are to be presented. Saxony-Anhalt’s municipalities have been lagging behind in their annual financial statements for years. Figures from the Ministry of the Interior recently showed that more than half of all planned annual accounts since 2013 are still open. Of a total of 1983 certificates, 899 have been drawn up so far, and in 1084 cases the local authorities have not yet complied with this obligation.
