Hainsfarth (dpa / lby) – A family’s car was hit by a steam locomotive at a barrier-free level crossing in Swabia and thrown onto the street. No one was injured, police said on Thursday. Accordingly, the 53-year-old driver had assumed that the barriers at the crossing at Hainsfarth (Donau-Ries district) would close when a train passed through. Therefore, according to the information, he should have ignored the signal lights and drove off with his vehicle. A passing locomotive hit the car and threw it onto the roadway. A family with two teenagers was in the car. The steam locomotive suffered material damage of around 50,000 euros.
