Kochel am See (dpa / lby) – Hundreds of liters of oil have found their way into the Kochelsee in Upper Bavaria, which is popular with day trippers. The heating oil seeped into the ground when filling the tank of a swimming pool in Kochel am See (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district) and got into the lake, the district office in Bad Tölz announced on Tuesday. The authority assumed on Tuesday that no more oil was seeping into the lake. The effects on the environment initially remained unclear. Initially, several media had reported on the incident on Saturday.
So far, neither sick fish nor birds have been found, the authority said. The oil film on the water surface is also receding. The oil could be disposed of with special binding agents, and an oil barrier prevented it from spreading further in the lake. Special soil samples should now show how far the approximately 600 liters of oil penetrated into the soil. According to the authority, the exact cause of the leak during refueling initially remained unclear.
