Munich (dpa / lby) – The Munich Oktoberfest also serves as a place of training – for the Bavarian judiciary. 48 public prosecutors are sitting in on the police station at the Wiesn this year, as Justice Minister Georg Eisenreich and Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann (both CSU) said on Tuesday. Pickpockets or beer mug beaters ended up in police inspection 17 on the festival grounds. During the Wiesn period, however, there are other tasks for the public prosecutor’s office: special call services for the capital department and the political department as well as the red light call service, the message said.
Herrmann praised the precautions taken to protect visitors: “The Oktoberfest is not only the largest folk festival in the world, but also the safest folk festival of this size.” At the same time, he thanked the police, judiciary and rescue services for their efforts. “They work hard and often around the clock so that more than six million guests can celebrate the Oktoberfest.”
