Borna (dpa/sn) – Lessons in Saxony’s schools are to become more digital with the help of thirteen media education centers (MPZ). “There is still a lot to be done before digital learning takes place as a matter of course in all our schools,” said Minister of Education Christian Piwarz on Monday, according to a statement during a joint visit to the MPZ in Borna with Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (both CDU). The centers are an important driving force, for example for further training in schools. They also provided educational media, such as teaching examples in the field of robotics. This will strengthen the education system and adapt it to the living environment, it said.

The independent educational institutions are under municipal sponsorship. According to the information, they support around 2,000 schools in the Free State and thus around 33,000 teachers on the way to digital lessons. In addition to Borna, there are other centers in Bautzen, Stollberg and Chemnitz, among others.
