Gera/Erfurt (dpa/th) – As of Thursday, new incoming proceedings will only be managed electronically as so-called e-files at the Gera Administrative Court. “In my view, the digitization of the work of the Gera Administrative Court is the most important technical advance since the court was founded in 1993,” said court president Michael Obhues, according to a statement from the Ministry of Justice on Wednesday. From January 2023, with the introduction of the eAkte at the administrative court in Meiningen, Thuringia’s administrative jurisdiction will be completely digitized.

According to the ministry, seven other Thuringian courts now have electronic case files, including all four regional courts and the Thuringian Higher Regional Court. The Thuringian Higher Administrative Court last successfully switched to electronic file management in June. By January 1, 2026, all Thuringian courts and public prosecutors should be working with digital court files.
