Munich (dpa / lby) – About a year before the next state election in Bavaria, the specific date for the ballot has not yet been set. A spokesman for the Interior Ministry said on Monday at the request of the German Press Agency in Munich.

According to Article 16 of the Bavarian Constitution, the election will take place “at the earliest 59 months and at the latest 62 months after the day on which the previous state parliament was elected”. Since the 2018 state election was on October 14, the parliament must be elected between September 17 and December 10, 2023.

The date of the election will initially be set by the Bavarian cabinet, but the formation of an opinion between the CSU and free voters has not yet taken place, according to government circles.

There is no major time pressure for the decision yet, the date must be announced at least five months before the election – so even if the election were in almost exactly one year in mid-September, there would still be time until next spring.

Within the government, however, an election is not expected in winter, the autumn holidays in 2023 are likely to be eliminated, as is an appointment immediately after the summer holidays, which last until September 11th in 2023. Good chances are attributed to the last Sunday in September (September 25) or the following October dates.
