Arendsee (dpa/sa) – A large bomb from the Second World War has been discovered by a resident in Arendsee. The bomb surfaced at the weekend due to the low water level, a spokesman for the city of Ardensee in Saxony-Anhalt announced on Monday. Accordingly, the body of water has no natural water supply, which is why the water level is continuously falling. The MDR had previously reported.
According to the city, the bomb is to be defused on Tuesday around 10 a.m. by forces from the explosive ordnance disposal service. “Residents within a radius of 500 meters around Lake Arendsee will have to leave their homes tomorrow from 9 a.m.,” said a city spokesman.
