Erfurt (dpa/th) – After the expiry of the so-called tank discount, fuel prices in Thuringia on Thursday were almost consistently more than 2 euros per liter. According to the information services, which obtain their price data directly from the Federal Cartel Office’s Market Transparency Unit for Fuels, around 2.205 euros were required for a liter of diesel at midday. Drivers had to pay EUR 2.096 for a liter of premium petrol and EUR 2.039 for Super E10. Only in a few exceptions was the E10 still available for less than 2 euros.
The federal government had decided to reduce the energy tax from June, which was increased again from Thursday. A spokesman for ADAC Thuringia said that it was not to be expected that the higher tax would immediately lead to a significant increase in fuel prices. The reason for this is that the tax does not apply to sales at the pump but from the tank farm or refinery. This means that all gas station supplies delivered before midnight were still taxed at the lower rate.
The ADAC spokesman pointed out that fuel prices fluctuate greatly over the course of the day. There are sometimes price differences of between 10 and 13 cents per liter throughout the day. If you want to fill up cheaply, you should go to the gas station between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
