Straubing (dpa/lby) – Since November, parking in a no-parking area has cost just as much more money as using a mobile phone while driving or not enough distance to the woman in front: Nine months after the introduction of the new catalog of fines, the income from warnings and fines has increased in many municipalities in Bavaria. It also plays a role that the traffic, which initially decreased due to the corona pandemic, has increased again. However, it is not due to more controls, assured municipalities surveyed by the German Press Agency.

Concrete figures for the whole of Bavaria are not yet available. However: “As was to be expected, since the amendment came into force, there has been a visible shift in the processes from the warning area to the reporting area,” said the Bavarian police administration office in Straubing. In other words: traffic offenders often have to pay higher sums for a similar number of violations and controls.
