Nettetal (dpa / lnw) – A cyclist died in Nettetal near Mönchengladbach after colliding with a car. According to witnesses, the 27-year-old had been traveling on a federal highway without lights and in wavy lines, the police said on Saturday. As he drove into a long right-hand bend, a 21-year-old driver came towards him. The cyclist was so badly injured in the head-on collision that he died on the spot despite the use of an ambulance.
Both the witnesses and the uninjured driver were cared for by pastors on site, as were the relatives notified by the police. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
