A suspicious bag on a platform at Dortmund Central Station has turned out to be harmless. The blocking of the station was lifted around 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, according to a spokeswoman for the federal police. Rail traffic is slowly starting up again. Previously, all tracks except for the terminal platforms had been cleared and the main hall of the station had also been closed.
A defuse squad had previously x-rayed the bag that was parked on the last platform. A clue to the owner was also found in the bag, the spokeswoman said. Civil claims and possible fees for the police operation would now be examined against this.
A press spokeswoman for the Federal Police told the “Ruhr Nachrichten” that the item was a sleeping bag.
Deutsche Bahn had announced on the short message service Twitter that there were delays. The stops in Dortmund and Bochum Central Station were omitted.
