Erfurt (dpa/th) – The holiday airline Corendon is reducing the number of flights from Germany, which also affects the airport in Erfurt. Of the two weekly departures to the Greek island of Rhodes, there will only be one on Saturday after August 23, said a spokesman for the airport company on Tuesday on request.

Corendon will not fly to Hurghada in Egypt from Erfurt during the summer flight schedule from September 1st to October 6th. The Greek Heraklion would continue to be served twice a week, but from August 16 on Tuesdays via Leipzig.

The airport in Erfurt is not affected by the restrictions due to strikes or staff shortages. According to the spokesman, there are sufficient own staff at check-in and controls.

The summer timetable runs from March to the end of October. There are currently 13 flights to destinations in the holiday regions of Turkey, Spain (Mallorca), Egypt (Hurghada), Bulgaria and Greece.

According to the spokesman, the airport expects a total of up to 135,000 passengers this year. “That would be about 80 percent more than in 2021, which was still heavily influenced by the corona pandemic.” The state of Thuringia is the majority shareholder.
