Munich (dpa/lby) – The construction of systems for generating renewable energies on monuments or in their vicinity is being significantly simplified in Bavaria. On Tuesday, the cabinet passed an amendment to the Monument Protection Act, which massively softens the previous strict line and allows, for example, solar systems on the roofs of listed houses. The change in the law should also make energy-related renovations on listed buildings possible. However, the value of the monuments should not be impaired by the changed regulations, it said.
In the immediate vicinity of monuments, wind turbines should no longer be taboo. The construction of wind turbines should therefore only require a permit for “monuments that particularly shape the landscape” – these include Neuschwanstein Castle or the Liberation Hall in Kelheim. The list of buildings that are particularly worthy of protection includes around 100 castles, churches and monuments.
