Gammertingen (dpa / lsw) – The major fire on the premises of a tire dealer in Gammertingen (Sigmaringen district) was probably caused by fireworks. According to the first investigation results, the police assume this, as the public prosecutor’s office in Hechingen and the police headquarters in Ravensburg announced on Tuesday.
The questioning of witnesses and the inspection of photos and video recordings showed that the fire broke out in at least three independent places on the site. There is no evidence of intentional arson. These results are subject to a fire report that is still pending, it said.
In the fire on July 23 on the tire dealer’s premises, a warehouse and an administration building burned down almost completely. The owner had previously celebrated his wedding on the premises. According to police, fireworks were also set off. Four people suffered smoke gas injuries, one person was slightly injured in a fall. The damage is estimated in the millions.
