Ingolstadt (dpa / lby) – ERC Ingolstadt has signed center Brian Gibbons for the new season in the German ice hockey league. As the Oberbayern announced on Monday, the former NHL professional from Linköping HC comes from Sweden. In Ingolstadt, the 34-year-old received a one-year contract and, according to the club, occupied the last vacant management position.
The American played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, the New Jersey Devils and the Anaheim Ducks in a total of 214 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). The left-handed shooter dared to move to Europe in the summer of 2020, when he first played for HC Lausanne.
“Last season was unfortunate for Brian. The early injury slowed him down but he’s fully recovered. He’s been back in training and on the ice for several months without any problems,” said ERC Sport Director Tim Regan. “He has the speed and technical ability for the fast hockey we want to play. He also has a good eye, his intensity is incredibly high and he has the qualities of a leader.”
