Munich (dpa / lby) – The emergency rooms in Bavarian hospitals are overloaded due to the corona wave and a lack of staff. Many sick employees are currently absent, while the clinics are at full capacity at the same time, the Bavarian Hospital Society announced on Monday in Munich. Ambulances would therefore have to drive longer to find a clinic that was ready to receive them. Some clinics would have to postpone planned, non-essential operations.

The hospital society is therefore calling on citizens to only go to an emergency room in the event of inpatient treatment. In all other cases, people should contact the on-call services of the resident doctors or call 116117 for the medical on-call service.
