Halle (dpa/sa) – The regional directorate of the Federal Employment Agency informed today about the situation on the labor market in Saxony-Anhalt in July. According to experts, the need for workers in Germany is still great despite the economic consequences of the Ukraine crisis, as reported by the Institute for Labor Market and Occupational Research (Nuremberg). However, the situation on the energy market is a risk for employment. The background is the concern about production losses.
Around 75,900 people were last registered as unemployed in Saxony-Anhalt in mid-June. That was 2,600 more unemployed than in May of this year. The unemployment rate rose from 6.7 percent in May to 6.9 percent in June in Saxony-Anhalt. The background to the increase was that refugees from the Ukraine were looked after by the job centers from June 1 and recorded in the statistics for the first time.
