A man, who had received a medical discharge from the Obispo Polanco Hospital in Teruel, has stolen an ambulance from the Emergency door of said center to return to his home in the Teruel town of Fuentespalda.

According to sources from the Police, after traveling the 192 kilometers that separate the capital of Teruel from the aforementioned municipality, in the Matarraña region, he called 062 of the Civil Guard to communicate that he had been the one who had taken the ambulance and indicate the place where he had left her.

The man, who is in good health and, apparently, had no other means of returning to town, is being investigated (charged) for an alleged crime of theft.

The events occurred this Saturday around 5:00 p.m. when the ambulance driver parked it in the Emergency area and entered the hospital to pick up a patient for a transfer. When leaving, he verified that the vehicle had disappeared.

He then filed the corresponding complaint with the National Police and the protocol was established to try to locate the vehicle.

The surprise was when the man called from his home in Fuentespalda, with about 290 inhabitants, to say that he was the author of the robbery and give details of where he had left the ambulance so that they could pick it up.

Agents of the Teruel Civil Guard arrested the man at his home in Fuentespalda, to where a patrol went after receiving the call from the detainee confessing the facts.

It is expected to go to court in the next few hours. He is charged with an alleged crime of theft of vehicle use. This crime consists of stealing or using a motor vehicle or moped of another without the necessary permission, but without the intention of keeping it and restoring it directly or indirectly within a period of no more than 48 hours.
