Pirna (dpa / sn) – Because of the high risk of forest fires, the forests in Saxon Switzerland and in the Eastern Ore Mountains may no longer be entered at night. The district office in Pirna issued a corresponding ban on Wednesday. It is effective immediately until revoked. All forests in the district should no longer be entered from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Leaving the forest paths is also prohibited all day long. In the event of a violation, there is a risk of a fine of up to 10,000 euros, the state-owned company Sachsenforst announced.
In the northern regions of Saxony, the highest forest fire warning level 5 applied on Wednesday, in Saxon Switzerland the danger level was also rated as high.
