Schwerin (dpa/mv) – From the point of view of the Ministry of Economics in Schwerin, the federal government should provide funds for a successor to the 9-euro monthly ticket, which expires at the end of August. “It is crucial that the federal government’s willingness to provide appropriate financing for a “9-euro ticket successor” must be clear,” the ministry said on Monday in Schwerin. This also applies to the solution of a 365-euro annual ticket proposed by the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU).
Until the next Federal Council meeting in September, you have to exchange information at the level of the federal states and with the federal government. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, initial coordination at working level has already begun. Going it alone in the form of a Federal Council initiative by one or more federal states is considered to be of little use in Schwerin, since “public transport offers that apply nationwide must also be supported jointly by the federal government and the federal states in consensus”.
Various proposals are currently circulating, both from politicians and from associations. These range from a continuation of the 9-euro ticket to a 29- or 69-euro monthly ticket to a 365-euro annual ticket. What they all have in common is that the ticket would permanently simplify the use of local public transport in Germany compared to the current system. This would particularly affect people who regularly commute across the borders of existing transport associations. Depending on the model, it could also be significantly cheaper.
