Rostock (dpa/mv) – The Hanseatic city of Rostock is celebrating Christopher Street Day (CSD) for the 20th time today. Under the motto “More than colorful, loud and shrill”, the organizers want to make it clear that the exuberant mood of the participants is only one side of the action day. The CSD demonstration should be used again to emphasize political demands. “There is still a lot of work to be done, from the restrictions on homosexual men donating blood to the reflection of sexual diversity in the curricula for schoolchildren,” said Max Rentner, board member.

According to him, around 5,000 people are expected at the CSD in Rostock. A Pride Night with lots of music is planned for the evening. The organizers appealed to the participants to test themselves for Corona before attending the events and to stay at home if the test was positive. The Christopher Street Day goes back to a rebellion by homosexuals against police arbitrariness in New York. In memory of this, there are demonstrations worldwide for the acceptance of sexual and gender diversity.
