Jena (dpa/th) – In Thuringia, over 42,000 solar systems have now been built. In the first half of 2022 alone, more than 3,000 new systems were added, the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Nature Conservation announced on Thursday. “The numbers of the last few years show a positive trend in the right direction,” said department head Anja Siegesmund (Greens) on the occasion of a visit to a solar owner in Jena.
Their goal remains to have as many as 100,000 solar roofs in Thuringia by 2025. Solar energy currently accounts for around 25 percent of electricity generation from renewable energy in Bavaria. So far, more than 2000 megawatts of power have been installed.
Since the start of the Solar Invest support program in 2016, around 8000 grants have been issued for a total of around 30 million euros. The funding pot of ten million euros for 2022 was already fully booked at the beginning of April shortly after the start.
