Stralsund (dpa / mv) – The city of Stralsund reports another success in the leasing of areas of the bankrupt MV shipyards in the Hanseatic city. The wind turbine manufacturer German Sustainables GmbH will start on July 15 on almost 6000 square meters of production and logistics space, the city administration announced on Wednesday. The company plans to build a new generation of wind turbines in Stralsund. The contract was signed by Lord Mayor Alexander Badrow (CDU) and the Managing Director of German Sustainables, Hans-Jürgen Brandt.
After the shipyard bankruptcy, the city took over the 34-hectare site of the MV Werften in Stralsund and wants to convert it into a maritime industrial and commercial park with numerous companies.
According to the city administration, it is the third contract signing for areas of the former MV shipyards. Discussions are currently being held with interested parties for additional halls and areas. More contracts are expected to be signed in the coming months.
