Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day incidence for North Rhine-Westphalia on Wednesday morning as 721.1. The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week is slightly lower than on Wednesday a week ago (774). The value in Coesfeld is conspicuously high, at 1555.9 it is well above the second highest value in North Rhine-Westphalia (Borken – 992.2).
The RKI reported 27,106 new Covid 19 cases on Wednesday. 29 deaths related to Corona were added. The lowest incidence was reported in the Rhein-Sieg district (258.8) on Wednesday.
However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the infection situation. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases that have not been recorded by the RKI – mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
