Gemmrigheim (dpa / lsw) – A 34-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured during an overtaking maneuver in the Ludwigsburg district. The biker wanted to overtake a car near Gemmrigheim on Friday when the 18-year-old driver of the car also started to overtake, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
The young driver must have overlooked the biker and the car collided with the motorcycle. The biker went off the road and crashed into a wooden fence. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Since the driver was suspected of being impaired by narcotics, a blood sample was taken from him.
