Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) – First a thinned out timetable and fuller trains, and now change to the bus: Traveling with the Black Forest Railway from Karlsruhe to Constance will take longer for the time being. As Deutsche Bahn announced on Wednesday on request, travelers can only continue by bus between Hausach and St. Georgen from this Thursday. Between Karlsruhe and Hausach and between St. Georgen and Konstanz, regional express trains (RE) run every hour.
According to Bahn, the reason is wear and tear on the wheels, which was found again during regular inspections last week. Until a solution is found, the double-decker vehicles are to be used on the winding Hausach-St. Georgen are no longer used. The “Südkurier” had previously reported on it.
According to the Bahn, RE trains run continuously on the connections that are important for commuters and schoolchildren from Constance (from 4.51 a.m.) to Offenburg (at 7.21 a.m.) and from Offenburg (from 5.23 a.m.) to Constance (at 8.10 a.m.). The buses stop in Hornberg and Triberg as substitute services. Between 6.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. there are also hourly direct buses without stopping.
At the beginning of February, the railway initially reduced connections on the Black Forest Railway for a month with reference to the corona situation. In the spring, a thinned-out timetable was explained with worn-out wheels.
