The US Federal Court overturned the right to abortion and caused outrage worldwide. Duchess Meghan is now also calling on men to comment “louder”. She discussed the subject with her own for a long time, and Prince Harry was also “deeply shaken”.

The Supreme Court ruling on US abortion rights unleashed a wave of outrage. The ranks of the critics also include Duchess Meghan and husband Prince Harry. In an interview with “Vogue”, the American demands: “Men must speak out in this moment and beyond because these are decisions that affect relationships, families and communities in general,” said Meghan.

The mother of two goes on to explain: “The decisions may be aimed at women, but the consequences affect us all.” And then she brings Prince Harry into play: “My husband and I have talked a lot about it in the last few days, he’s also a feminist.” Prince Harry responded “deeply shaken”: “His reaction last week was instinctive, just like mine.”

“I know so many women are desperate at the moment. But again, we have to unite and not let ourselves down. We have to do the work,” added the Duchess of Sussex.

Before Duchess Meghan, many celebrities – including Halle Berry, Billie Eilish, Viola Davis and Barack Obama – have publicly criticized Friday’s Supreme Court decision. The so-called “Roe v. Wade” decision had been overturned, the landmark decision of the Supreme Court in 1973 that granted women in all US states the right to an abortion. Now the constitutional right to abortion is abolished. The states must create their own regulations.

Former US President Obama called for protests: “Join the activists who have been sounding the alarm on abortion access for years – and taking action.” Citizens should therefore join local protests. The Supreme Court has “subjected the most personal decision one can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues.” In doing so, he “attacked fundamental freedoms of millions of Americans”.
