According to the police headquarters in Offenbach on Tuesday, it was initially unclear how the fire in Schluechtern (Main-Kinzig-Kreis) came about. Accordingly, the fire was discovered on Monday afternoon and was not fully brought under control until early Tuesday morning.
Because the silo, which was half full of wood chips, could not be extinguished with water, the fire brigade used carbon dioxide to smother the flames.
