Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – Last year, the Hessian police uncovered 25 cases of commercial vaccination card counterfeiting, in which a higher number of counterfeit or blank documents were discovered. A total of 1223 vaccination certificates were secured, said Interior Minister Peter Beuth (CDU) in response to a parliamentary request from the left-wing faction in Wiesbaden. This resulted in a query to all Hessian police headquarters.
23 preliminary investigations were initiated against 47 suspects on suspicion of commercial counterfeiting. In addition, two procedures by the Hessian State Criminal Police Office were being conducted against previously unknown perpetrators, the Interior Minister explained. Three investigations have now been discontinued. Investigations into the remaining cases are ongoing.
