Schnelldorf (dpa/lsw) – Seven people were seriously injured in two accidents on Autobahn 6 on the border between Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. First of all, early Monday morning, a man on the Bavarian side near Schnelldorf drove his truck off the road in the direction of Nuremberg and broke through the central barrier. According to the police, the truck struck an oncoming car and then crashed into another truck. The car skidded and hit a guardrail. Six people were injured and rescue workers took them to hospital.

As a result of the accident, a traffic jam formed, the end of which a driver near Satteldorf (Schwäbisch Hall district) evidently noticed too late. According to the police’s initial findings, he crashed into a semi-trailer truck that was standing at the end of the traffic jam. Rescue workers had to free the man from the wreck, officials said. A helicopter flew the seriously injured 24-year-old to a clinic.

The police closed the highway in both directions for the rescue work. Traffic was blocked for hours.
