Burg Stargard (dpa/mv) – Tilo Lorenz (CDU) remains mayor of Burg Stargard near Neubrandenburg. The 41-year-old incumbent received 55 percent of the votes in the election on Sunday according to the preliminary final result, said election officer Christian Walter. The graduate teacher Katja Sievert was the only opposing candidate for the Stargard 2030 voter group. According to Walter, the 46-year-old received 45 percent.
In the small town south of Neubrandenburg with around 5,400 inhabitants, the mayor is elected for seven years. It is Lorenz’s third term in office. Voter turnout was nearly 47 percent.
Greifswald residents were also called upon to elect their mayor on Sunday. Here the result was initially pending.
