Greifswald (dpa / mv) – A fire in an empty stable building in Greifswald caused damage of several hundred thousand euros. According to police, the fire broke out on Thursday afternoon. Because the roof of the building is made of asbestos, the population was asked to keep windows and doors closed and to switch off ventilation, as the mayor announced on Thursday. The warning was lifted later in the evening. The cause of fire was unclear for the moment. According to the city, the building was used as a riding stable until recently, but has since been vacant. The police put the total damage at 250,000 euros.
