Munich (dpa / lby) – TSV 1860 Munich has completed its goalkeeper team for the coming third division season. Julius Schmid comes from the regional football club VfB Lübeck, as the “Lions” announced on Thursday. The 21-year-old, who has both German and Finnish citizenship, has already played for Finland in goal for the youth teams from U17 to U20.

Schmidt was trained in the junior division at SpVgg Unterhaching. He now ranks behind regular keeper Marco Hiller and Tom Kretschmar. “Julius is a talented young goalkeeper who completes our team of goalkeepers very well in his career and we trust him to take the next step in the future,” said “Löwen” sports director Günther Gorenzel.
