Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Just because the police crossed their path, a 64-year-old woman in Stuttgart was saved from becoming a victim of fraud and losing more than 10,000 euros. The woman previously received a call from an alleged police officer, investigators reported on Friday. The caller persuaded her to withdraw money because her son was facing jail time for an alleged hit-and-run. On the way to the agreed handover location, the elderly woman turned to a police patrol who happened to be passing by. A 26-year-old was arrested when the money was handed over. He is to be brought before the magistrate.
